Heavy & Commuter Rail
ECS has a 30-year history supporting heavy rail programs for authorities including MARTA, BART, CTA, NYCTA, WMATA, Tren Urbano, and MDTA. Our commuter rail experience includes NICTD, RTD, MTA Metro-North, and SEPTA, with the same disciplined approach to compliance and documentation. We supply essentially anything that comes on a reel, from traction power and signal/train control to communications, fiber, and contact wire. From detailed submittals to reel-level tracking and CTR closeout support, we help keep rail schedules moving and turnover predictable.
OEM
ECS provides technical and sourcing support for OEMs that need specialty wire or cable designed into their products. Our experience includes unique applications such as 5,000V cable for near absolute-zero temperatures, solid nickel conductors for inline temperature sensing, and brightly colored cord for temporary subway tunnel lighting. We help validate requirements, align to applicable standards, and keep manufacturability and lead times realistic. When appropriate, we can recommend compliant alternates that improve availability or cost without sacrificing performance.
Light Rail & Streetcars
ECS supports light rail, streetcar, and APM projects across major systems in Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Salt Lake, Denver, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Houston, Dallas, St. Louis, Charlotte, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Miami, and Disney World. We supply the full reel-based scope, including traction power, signal/train control, communications, fiber, contact wire, stainless steel, and galvanized steel. We track every reel and stay engaged through CTR acceptance and closeout so the job finishes clean, not just delivered.
Institutional
ECS supplies Medium Voltage cable for power distribution in healthcare facilities, sporting arenas, high rise towers, laboratories, pharmaceutical plants, etc. ECS has also provided cable for use on Army, Navy and Air Force bases.
Transmission & Substations
ECS supplies ACSR for transmission, substations, grid connections, and high-voltage transit OCS systems. Representative work includes 375 transmission miles linking South Carolina Gas and Electric’s Virgil G. Summer Nuclear Plant to the grid, supported by tight reel and returnable management across multiple staging locations. For substations, we can marshal entire orders into a single shipment or set up stocking programs for multi-site upgrades that require custom runs. We also bring technical expertise around critical details like control cable shielding and effective coaxial cabling approaches for line tuning.
